Background

East Kilbride Shopping Centre, Scotland’s largest undercover shopping and leisure destination, recently underwent a digital signage upgrade to modernise its advertising assets.

As part of its Orbit network—the UK’s most extensive large-format digital signage network within malls—Limited Space partnered with EcoVista to enhance the shopping centre’s visual engagement and deliver cutting-edge digital display solutions.

Challenge

The primary objective was to deliver high-quality LED and digital signage solutions that would elevate the shopper experience and drive advertising impact while ensuring sustainability and efficient use of resources.

Limited Space required a solution that included both digital kiosks and a large-format LED display, designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing shopping centre architecture. The project demanded sustainable materials, fast installation timelines and minimal disruption to the centre’s operations. As a busy shopping destination, the work had to be carried out during out-of-hours periods to ensure smooth day-to-day activities.

Additionally, the large-format LED screen’s placement under a glass atrium posed specific challenges. The chosen display needed high-brightness capabilities to maintain clear visuals, even in direct sunlight.

Solution

EcoVista provided a turnkey solution, managing all aspects of the project from design and fabrication to installation and commissioning.

Eleven Vista6ix kiosks, featuring 75-inch Samsung displays, were installed throughout the shopping centre. These included nine double-sided and two single-sided units. The kiosks, locally manufactured in the UK using recycled materials, not only supported faster lead times but also aligned with sustainability goals.

The centrepiece of the installation was a 5×3 metre Absen K-Series LED display with a 3.9mm pixel pitch, designed to deliver vivid, high-resolution visuals even in high ambient lighting conditions. EcoVista conducted an invasive structural survey to ensure the LED screen integrated seamlessly with the existing facade. The installation also included an integrated control system for simplified content management and operation.

The project was completed on time and within budget, delivering a transformative advertising platform that has significantly enhanced the shopping centre’s visual appeal. The combination of digital kiosks and the large-format LED screen provides a versatile, sustainable and impactful solution for engaging shoppers and maximising advertiser ROI.

EcoVista’s collaboration with Limited Space continues, with plans to roll out similar upgrades across other prominent shopping centres in the UK, further cementing its reputation as a leader in sustainable and innovative digital signage solutions.
